Development features and specifics of introduction of adaptive management systems in particular chaos theory are investigated in the article. The prerequisites that underlie the formation of the key ideas of adaptive management systems are analyzed. The provisions reflecting the dynamism and chaos of the modern socio-economic systems development are generalized. It is established that the most important postulate of the chaos theory is the denial of the prospects for the long-term planning by fragmentation of the system into its component parts and conducting a profound analysis of the behavior of each of them, and focusing attention on the system integrity and dynamics. The basic concepts of the chaos theory are considered and the possibility of their introducing in modern management practices is analyzed.
